Jobs in Las Vegas for the month of May increased by 2,200

Pushing total employment in Las Vegas to 1,001,100, the May 2018 economic report reflects a constantly growing community. The new high exceeds the established one million seasonally adjusted job marks according to the DETR (Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.)
Comparatively, Reno & Carson City were growing by only 100 jobs per month. Las Vegas has added over 200,000 jobs since 2010, an impressive increase compared to the rest of Nevada and other cities in general.
Las Vegas is experiencing nation-leading private employment growth with decreasing unemployment rates shared statewide. Here are a few highlights from the 2018 Southern Nevada Economic Report in May:

Job Growth In May (Seasonally-Adjusted):
Las Vegas gained 2,200 jobs over the month and 27,800 over the year.
Unemployment:
Las Vegas: 4.4 %; down 0.8 % point from a year ago.
The Las Vegas unemployment rate is the lowest it has been since March of 2007.
The Las Vegas metro area has surpassed the one million seasonally adjusted job mark.
Total employment in the State increased 3.2% during the fourth quarter of 2017, relative to the same period in 2016; Reno and Las Vegas fell slightly below the statewide average.
As of 2017, employment in firms with less than 100 employees accounted for 53% of total private sector employment in Nevada.
Las Vegas must remain on course to continue seeking out new opportunities. This means the time to start a business is now. More jobs means more consumers with expendable income; the opportunity in this city has never been greater.
