Kelly B. Stout
Originally from Chicago, Kelly moved to Las Vegas in 2005. In 2010, she graduated magna cum laude from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While attending law school, she was an Articles Editor for the Nevada Law Journal and a member of the moot court team.
Kelly began her legal career at a boutique litigation firm where she represented clients in all aspects of litigation and administrative matters. Kelly has more than 10 years of experience representing a wide variety of clients—including privately held companies, not-for-profit organizations, governmental entities, insurance companies, and large corporations—in commercial/business disputes, complex civil litigation, and appeals involving corporate law, business torts, breach of contract, professional ethics, partnership disputes. Kelly also has extensive experience practicing administrative law and has represented healthcare, gaming, financial, and cannabis clients in disciplinary proceedings, licensing matters, and advising on operational issues, internal policies and procedures, and regulatory compliance. Since joining Sgro and Roger, she has participated in several labor law/employment matters and has also been involved in complex business litigation matters. Represented a political subdivision in a dispute involving alleged violations of Nevada’s Open Meeting Law and obtained dismissal of numerous claims under Nevada’s anti-SLAPP statute (pending appeal)
Jury trial of a breach of contract action relating to ownership of cannabis establishment, resulting in a verdict for the client and a substantial award of attorney’s fees.
Jury trial of a breach of contract action relating to a consulting contract, resulting in a verdict for the client and a substantial award of attorney’s fees.
Represented plaintiff in legal malpractice action, resulting in a favorable settlement for the client.
Represented a health care facility in a federal false claims action, resulting in a favorable settlement for the client.
Represented large insurance carrier in indemnification/contribution action filed by competing insurance carrier, resulting in a favorable settlement for the client.
Represented a political subdivision in a dispute relating to authority to regulate firearms, obtaining summary judgment in client’s favor (affirmed on appeal).
Represented survivor beneficiary in action against PERS, obtaining summary judgment in client’s favor and a substantial award of benefits (affirmed on appeal).
Jury trial of a fraud and breach of contract action regarding the sale of a golf course, resulting in favorable settlement for the client.
