I seem fine after my accident - what if my injuries don’t appear immediately?

The shock from a car accident is confusing and frightening; one minute everything can be completely fine and in a few moments, everything is a blur. Our brains automatically release adrenaline as a result of exorbitantly stressful events.

Adrenaline contributes to an overarching numbing sensation that prevents people from recognizing the level of pain they are actually in. The most dangerous types of injuries that can occur without clear symptoms, particularly with delayed symptoms, are concussions & other brain injuries.

The same applies to injuries from internal bleeding or minor organ damage; there is usually a delay of symptoms with soft tissue injuries. Whiplash, for example, can deeply affect the muscle tissue in your neck & back, meaning that if you aren not checked after an accident, weeks later you might wake up with a tight, painful upper range of motion.

This is why it is so important to seek medical attention as soon as you can after an accident; spot checking yourself can be cursory & a chiropractor’s perspective can verify your wellbeing. Do not run the risk of injuries developing as a result of an accident without the legal guidance of experienced professionals.
