The First Step in the Divorce Process
Sgro & Roger works tirelessly to provide the right legal solution for each individual client involved in Family Law matters.
As attorneys, our goal is to protect the rights and best interests of their clients and their children. In matters of divorce law, which is often accompanied by child custody matters and the division of marital property, we work hard to understand our clients’ needs.
The first step in the divorce process is filing a petition. Even where both spouses agree that they want to get divorced, one of them will have to be the one to file a petition with the court asking for the divorce. The petition will state the grounds for the divorce. The grounds for divorce vary depending on the jurisdiction. All jurisdictions allow for some type of no-fault grounds such as irreconcilable differences but only a few states still consider fault grounds for divorce, such as adultery or abandonment.
Sgro & Roger achieves positive results through negotiation, mediation or collaborative law. When litigation becomes necessary, clients can rely on our combined experience in Clark County Family Courts to achieve successful results.
